When I think back to one of the hardest times in my life , I always see Steve - my old neighbour - right there and always doing something kind. He was more than a neighbour , he was a guardian Angel with a tool box . He checked in without prying and lent a hand when needed. He was so kind to my children , especially my twin boys . One of their bikes had broken and I had no idea how to fix it . Without hesitation Steve not only repaired the bike but turned around a bought another one so the boys could ride together. He loved a glass of wine and a chat just like I do. Steve was one in a million . I was lucky to have known him and blessed to have called him a neighbour and a friend .

Steve Di Leigh & I went to Tahiti. In the last hours of his wife we assembled the photos from thi s extraordinary place and attached this letter to Steve:

Our dear Steve,
Here is a brief collection of wonderful memories that the four of us shared and if only for a brief time, it gave us all indelible memories.
One of the most memorable was your boisterous and loving personality. You embraced Tahiti and it embraced you and Di saw the nautical adventurer in you.
So our dear friend thumb through these pages…recall the experiences we shared and lock them into your mind and take them with you eternity.
But hey Steve, we are not all that far behind you…so as Captain James Cook once sailed ahead and found safe anchorages in these beautiful waters… sail away Steve…. find a safe place to anchor and turn up the stern light for us to find you.
We will all meet again in this heavenly place….one day

Stevo, in your final letters to me, you stressed the value of friends and family – one and the same thing when friends are as true as you.
The many kind words you wrote I can also use to describe you, my friend, and I also am “so proud to have been a part of your life”.
I will continue to be there for Di, Crystal, Courtney and Alex – and of course ‘Daisy girl’ – and we will share our memories of the many, many great times with you.
But be warned, we’ll take the mickey as well. You’ll no doubt hear us – and get a chuckle.
We will continue to play the music you loved and dance after dinner.
We will continue to work hard to achieve our best, an example you set so well yourself.
And we will continue to love and care for each other.
Steve, you showed love in action – the only kind that truly matters – and you definitely have left this world a better place. Rest in peace, dear man.
