In Loving Memory of

Daryl Bunting

3rd April 1926 - 7th March 2025

Daryl’s story starts on 3 April 1926. Son to Harold Bunting and Ruby May Thompson, he spoke of his love for his mother, compassion for his father, and cherished childhood memories with his adored older sister, June. Daryl joined the Navy in his late teens, after being refused parental permission to join the Air Force. At 22, he fell in love and married his late wife, Betty Marie (nee Carson). His love for Betty became his life’s narrative. He changed career and became a builder. Daryl and Betty created a warm, welcoming home — open always to family and friends — and a place for his family of four children to grow. His two great passions were the scouting movement and golf — both becoming commitments of service and enduring friendships. During his 74 years of marriage to Betty, he saw sadness, loss, loyalty, love, compassion, great friendship, adventure — and immense joy. Together, they became grandparents. Now it’s our turn to honour him: authentic, generous of spirit, unwavering loyalty. True Blue.
