Lawrence Briffa’s story began beneath the Mediterranean sun. Born on the 3rd October 1939 in Msida, Malta, to Pauline Borg and Carmel Briffa.
On his own, at age 21, (1961) with hope in his heart, he made the brave journey by ship across the world to call Melbourne, Australia home.
At 25, Larry married the love of his life, Mary Doris (Doris), and together they built a warm and welcoming home in Donvale. A fastidious spray painter by trade, Larry displayed meticulous pride and craftsmanship with every coat of paint on the job, as he did to every detail of his home and everything he touched in life.
Larry was a proud and loving father to Simone, Janine and Melanie. A gentle man whose heart overflowed with affection for his family and friends. With a glint in his eye, his quiet chuckle filled rooms, his kindness touched lives and his memory will forever glow in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, yet never forgotten.
Thank you for adding a memory. It means a lot to comfort families and to keep the memory of Larry alive.

I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing Lazza for the last 10 years since being with Simone. We have shared plenty of significant events together such as Christmas’s, birthdays, dinner dances, house moving and warmings, and random pop ins. Every time we have spent time together he has been so genuinely warm, friendly, happy and caring.
He has also offered beautiful love to my children Milla and Trinity as if they were is own grandchildren.
Lazza was a hard worker and a passionate man. He had appreciation for the finer things in life such as whisky, fine clothes, nice cars and Doris’s soups!
I will miss you Lazza, as will the rest of your family who have been forever gifted with your guidance and love.
Rest in Peace great man.
Tim.

I write this as someone blessed to be part of your family through Melanie.
I’ve known Larry for about eighteen years. Geography meant we didn’t see each other often, but whenever we did, it stayed with me.
One moment I’ll never forget was when our son Zachary was born. Larry and Doris flew to London, and the Open Championship was on. We upgraded the Sky package so he could watch the golf properly. His passion for it was unbelievable. At one point his cheering made me think he was watching a contact sport. I looked in to see what was going on, and there he was, locked in on Rory McIlroy lining up a birdie. Mcllroy missed.
Afterwards Larry told me that great golfers play the next hole as if the last one never happened. A life lesson in a simple sentence, and one that has stayed with me and grounded me. For me it summed him up. Each day was a new day.
He will be deeply missed. My prayers are with Doris, Simone, Jeanine and with Melanie. May you hold onto the man he was and the life he shaped, knowing his spirit lives on in every person he touched.
With love and condolences
Clem

To a loved uncle. When I think of uncle Larry I think of a good man and a gentleman. Growing up I remember lots of Christmas and Easter celebrations, with our feasts of aussie and maltese foods - Larry was always very generous with his time -a chat on politics or the footy and always with good humour, He loved a party and was an exceptional dancer - mr smooth. with him and Doris twirling away satuday nights at the latest dinner dance.I remember his super cool blue car and attention to detail with everything. He was a good christian man and loved husband and dad..
Thoughts and prayers to Doris, Simone, Janine and Melanie xxx
