Craig McKerchar’s story starts on November 11, 1968, when he was born in Gore, New Zealand to parents Graham and Gwenda McKerchar, the fourth of their five children. Craigs schooling all took place in Gore, and his early working life saw him working in places such as Gore, Milford Sound, Dunedin and Christchurch. Craig would go on to call Australia home, moving here in 1990 at the age of 21. First arriving in Sydney, Craig eventually went on to work for many years as a Department Manager and made his home and life in and with the community of Balwyn North in Melbourne. Craig is loved by family and friends alike. He will be missed and always remembered by the many people whose lives he touched in some small way. We encourage you to help keep Craigs story alive by sharing a memory, a photo or reflection of your time with Craig.
Thank you for adding a memory. It means a lot to comfort families and to keep the memory of Craig alive.

To the most kindest soul this earth has seen. You were and are the truest of gentlemen and the epitome of what it is to be a friend. You always had a smile on your face and always saw the best In people. Thank you for looking after my Emily, it always warmed my heart that I know she had you by her side. Saturdays will not be the same, not seeing your face when getting our cricket club bbq meat. We are going to miss you, but you will always live on in our hearts. Love you lots mate xoxo

I first met Craig while working in one of the liquor shops. We ended up chatting in the freezers, of all places — and somehow, through those cold conversations (and thanks to Em and the coffee runs), a great friendship began.
We built something special. Even though we didn’t catch up often, whenever we did, there was laughter, sarcasm, and plenty of dark humour — that was our thing.
Craig later came to work with me at Express after his department was restructured, and I genuinely appreciated every minute we spent together during that time. One day, he moved on, and we lost contact.
Craig, I’ll always love you, my amigo.
Thank you for being such a kind soul — for filling everyone’s life with joy, humour, and that sharp wit of yours. I’m truly sorry you’re gone. I’m sorry I didn’t catch up with you one last time.
I’ll carry our good times, our chats, and your warmth in my heart.
See you around, mate.
Love you always.

Well, where to start. I have so many. I was saddened to hear you were gone, shocked really. I thought what a hole you will leave in so many lives. You are well known for your smile, fun character & fabulous sense of humor, but also for just being the genuine person that you were. We had many laughs & lots of good times. You, Vicki, Maria & me, cruising in the corolla, stereo blaring, vodka & coke on tap, misbehaving but enjoying life. RIP Craig.
I enjoyed working with you and your jokes Rest in Peace
