Geraldine Mary Banham was born on September 28, 1953, at Bethlehem Hospital in Gardenvale to Thomas and Joan Grant.
She later met the love of her life, Peter Banham, and they married at age 27, building a loving family together and welcoming Rachel, Michael and Lauren.
Geraldine worked as an Activity Therapist, dedicating herself to caring for others.
5 years ago she moved from the family home in Davey street to her dream home in Bonbeach.
She became a proud grandmother, “Gezza” to Jackson in 2023 and Bailey Star in 2025.

Gez was such a beautiful part of my childhood. Everytime I came over to the banhams was greeted with a warm smile and a “how are you seh” such a warm beautiful caring lady. And so many of those beautiful qualities now live on in her gorgeous children. Surrounding you all in love for a beautiful lady that was such a gift to this earth. Every time I decide to go and have a little me time and stare off at a magical view and be reflective and grateful (drink in hand… maybe even a bundy) I’ll think of you.
You had limitless love for everyone and you and Pete have passed that down to my beautiful cuzzies.
Cheers to you Gezza, one more pelican in the sky, passing us by, reminding us how lucky we are to be in the Grant clan.
Love you so much, BJ

Gerry has been a delightful middle sister and the youngest in the Grant family until Toni and Phil arrived 5 and 6 years later. As such she was the baby girl, very pretty and a joy to me, Margie and Loretta. Mum dressed both Gerry and Loretta up like twins with dolly dresses, hair and later due to turned eyes requiring treatment get both had similar coke bottle looking glasses. I remember going into the eye hospital on the bus and train with Mum, Margie, Loret and Gerry a few times for their treatment.
One day on the bus from Sandringham, a handicapped man got on the bus with Gerry blurting out "look at that funny man Mum! What's wrong with him? This coming from the weirdest little girl and her sister o n the bus. Needless to say I melted into the seats in shame.
Gerry was always funny with a cheeky grin and always a smile. I loved her and will miss her dearly 💔

Dearest Banhams,
I shared this message with your beautiful Mother Gerry before she passed.
Dear Gerry,
Ever since I had the great fortune of meeting and falling in love with Rachel, I’ve known I’ve got a family down in Melbourne. I've always felt close to you through the beautiful stories Rachel has told, and of course , each time I visit Melbourne you have all been amazingly welcoming.
I am so sorry you are suffering. I’m sorry your family is losing you. These words seem too small. But I just wanted to reach out to you, however Insignificantly.
Years ago, during a hard time, Rachel passed on advice she had received from you. She told me that you say “never let anyone dim your light”. This really hit home for me and I’ve always held it near. Thank you, it got me through a very hard time and into a beautiful new life of love and happiness.
Gerry, I wish I could have spent more time in your presence. But I will always hold the most bright and beautiful image of your radiant smiling face and your kindness in my heart.
I’m holding you all in my heart. I love you and your family. Thank you for your impact on my life. Thank you for your incredible daughter, who is so much of her incredible mumma.
All of my love,
Meg
So many people pass through our lives but few have the ability to touch it and you are one of those people
