If you’ve seen two guys on a couch talking about funerals on your TV lately and thought, “Wait… are they actually funeral directors?” — we get it.

But we’re not actors, and this isn’t a gag. We’re Sam and Cale — co-founders of Bare, and yes, actual funeral directors (just maybe not the kind you’re used to).

From Mates to Funeral Directors 

We’ve been mates for years - having become close friends back in our uni days in Perth. 

Fast forward to more recent times and, like many people, we both experienced the loss of someone close to us. 

And sadly, those experiences made something really clear: funerals in Australia were too expensive, too complex, and didn’t take care of those left behind.

We kept coming back to the same question: Why does it have to be this way?

So, despite the fact neither of us ever imagined becoming funeral directors, we decided to build something different.

What Is Bare, Really?

Bare is our answer to that question. A simpler way to do funerals — without the pressure, the confusing jargon, or the heavy price tag. Focused on making what is one of the hardest times in life, just that little bit easier. 

We offer everything from straightforward cremations to personalised funeral services, all arranged online or over the phone, from wherever’s most comfortable (yes, even your couch).
