If you have a Bare Prepaid Cremation, you might be wondering about what happens next when the time comes. When it's time to use your Bare Prepaid Cremation plan, our dedicated team will be here for your family - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We're passionate about making this process, and a no doubt difficult time, just that little bit easier for your loved ones.

Here's what your family will need to do and some other helpful information for them to keep in mind when the time comes.

Contact Bare.

When someone with a Bare Prepaid Cremation passes, the family can simply give us a call to our 24/7 number 1800 071 176 to initiate the process. Our team will then jump into gear andtake action to ensure everything is handled with care. We understand the difficulty of the situation and are committed to providing families with the support they need during this time.

If a Bare Prepaid member passes away in a hospital or another institution, the first contact may come from a staff member from that location. We will obtain Next of Kin details from them and then call the Next of Kin to discuss the process and answer any questions they may have.

Complete required Next of Kin paperwork.

While we'll be able to locate a record of your Prepaid Plan with Bare, upon passing, we'll require some additional forms to be completed by your Next of Kin to formalize the process. These forms play an important role in ensuring that the cremation proceeds smoothly and in compliance with legal requirements. We understand this may be a sensitive time, so we'll guide your Next of Kin through any questions they may have.

The completed forms are required for these important matters:

  • Authorization for care: By completing this form, it authorises Bare to coordinate with the healthcare facility (if applicable) to promptly bring the deceased into our care.
  • Permission for cremation: These forms grant permission for cremation, with consent from your Next of Kin. This step ensures compliance with legal requirements and safeguards, allowing the cremation to proceed with no issues.
  • Death registration: Completing these forms allows Bare to gather necessary details for registering the passing with the Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. This ensures timely issuance of a legal Death Certificate. While we handle the registration process for the Next of Kin, it's essential that the details provided are current and accurate at the time of death.

You can check this article for more information about the Next of Kin paperwork.

Overview of Bare Cremation process

In addition to assisting the Next of Kin with paperwork, we also handle medical certificate applications, often without their direct involvement. If the death occurred outside of a medical facility, we may request details from the last treating doctor through the Next of Kin. If the case is referred to the Coroner, we will coordinate with their office to obtain the necessary paperwork.

Once all documents are in order, we schedule the cremation and inform the family of the date unless they prefer otherwise. We arrange private cremations through our trusted crematorium partners, prioritizing dignity and care every step of the way.

Following the cremation, we coordinate the return of ashes with family either in person or via a trackable delivery service depending on the options available in the area.

We handle all necessary registrations with the Births Deaths and Marriages Registry, keeping the Next of Kin fully informed and available to assist with any questions. An online next of kin dashboard will also be provided to the family for easy access to updates and transparent communication.
